Highland sits on a high plateau ( elevation 4836′ ) at the base of 11,750′ Mt. Timpanogas. It is situated 40.42 degress north of the equator and 111.78 degrees west of the prime meridian. It is approximately 30 miles from Salt Lake City, and near the towns of Alpine, American Fork, and Lehi.

Climate
Highland is part of the high desert system in Utah and enjoys a moderate climate. Temperatures in the summer rarely exceed the 90′s and winters are not severe. Average rainfall is 16 inches per year and average snowfall is 10-20 inches per year.
Attractions
- Highland Fling is held mid-summer at Highland Heritage Park. It includes sporting events, Children’s activities, a parade and fireworks.
- Alpine Loop Scenic Byway has one end beginning at the base of American Fork Canyon and passing by Sundance ski resort it exits through Provo Canyon. Beautiful scenery can be seen all year though the road may be closed during some winter months.
- Timpanogas Cave National Monument is just a few miles up American Fork Canyon. The monument is made up of three caverns reached via a 1.5 mile hike from the parking lot in the canyon. Tours through the cave are available with a ticket purchase.

Getting to Highland City is quite simple. Take the UT-92 CEDAR HILLS/HIGHLAND/ALPINE exit (EXIT 287) on Interstate 15 and head east.
